Financial Re-entry Training

            FLTA Financial Reentry Training

Our Financial Reentry Training program is designed to help formerly incarcerated individuals gain essential financial awareness as they prepare to reenter society. Facilitated in prisons, transitional homes, and partner organization locations, this workshop equips returning citizens with the tools to navigate their financial future.

We cover critical topics such as credit building, assets vs liabilities, income management, employment navigation, rental awareness, banking, investing, advanced financial reentry strategies and much much more. By addressing the financial triggers associated with reentry, we empower individuals to make healthier financial decisions and reduce the risk of recidivism, ultimately helping them build a foundation for a successful life after incarceration.

                           Our Lived Experience

Our staff is made up of individuals who have lived the reentry experience themselves. With an average of 10 years of experience, our dedicated facilitators bring a wealth of knowledge and empathy to the table, having successfully navigated the challenges of reintegration into society. Our team has facilitated numerous business, credit, financial, and employment training workshops, as well as self-help groups, with a deep understanding of the barriers to success that returning citizens face. Through their lived experience, our facilitators recognize that financial awareness is often the missing link in successful reentry, and they are committed to equipping others with the tools and strategies needed to build a stable, prosperous future.

Reentry Training Wheels Program

The Financial Liberation Training Academy (FLTA) has introduced the “Training Wheels Program,” a comprehensive reentry initiative designed to support individuals newly released from prison. This program pairs each participant with a formerly incarcerated reentry coach who understands the unique challenges of reintegration through lived experience. These coaches are not just mentors; they are guides who help participants navigate the complexities of reentry by developing personalized 30, 60, or 90-day plans based on each individual’s specific needs. Whether it’s securing stable housing, finding employment, or addressing mental health and substance abuse issues, the reentry coach is there every step of the way, providing tailored support and ensuring that participants have the tools they need to succeed.

What sets the Training Wheels Program apart is the daily, direct access participants have to their reentry coaches. This constant support fosters a sense of accountability and trust, which is crucial for those who have recently been released from prison and are often overwhelmed by the demands of reentry. The coaches, having walked this path themselves, offer invaluable insights and practical advice that resonate deeply with the participants. By helping them set achievable goals and providing the necessary resources, the program not only addresses immediate needs but also empowers participants to build a foundation for long-term success.Once members’ case plans are complete, they will be discharged from the program (training wheels off) to allow assignment of another person in need. All members must complete each task according to their reentry case plan created by their reentry coach to participate in the program. The impact of the Training Wheels Program on crime and recidivism is significant. By offering consistent, personalized support, the program helps reduce the likelihood of participants reoffending. Formerly incarcerated individuals who have a clear plan and ongoing guidance are more likely to reintegrate successfully into society, leading to lower crime rates and a decrease in the prison population over time. The program also promotes community safety by addressing the root causes of recidivism, such as unemployment and lack of social support, ultimately contributing to the broader goal of breaking the cycle of incarceration.
